Know Jesus
You were created to have a relationship with God. To get to know Him and enjoy Him forever. Jesus, His Son, made the way for us.
Here is how to know Him:
1. Recognize that you are a sinner by nature and by choice!
The Bible says, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Rom. 3:23)
We cannot know God because of our sin. No matter how good we may be or what good deeds we may do, we fall short of God's glory.
2. Realize that Jesus died on the cross for your sin!
The Bible says, "God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Rom. 5:8) Jesus died the death that we deserved so that we may have a relationship with God Himself.
3. Repent of your sin!
The Bible says, "If you openly admit by your own mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord, and if you believe in your own heart that
God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is believing in the heart that makes a man righteous before God,
and it is stating his belief by his own mouth that confirms his salvation."
The word repent means to turn away. Therefore, instead of running towards sin, turn around and start pursuing God. When we ask for forgiveness, He is just to "forgive us of our sin and cleanse us of all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
When we ask God into our lives, everything changes! Our situations may not change, but our eternal destination does. God Himself sends His Holy Spirit to dwell in our lives. We will be given the power to overcome sin and temptation through the Holy Spirit!
